I'll look around to see what Dell software is running. See if there are any logs showing they blocked the action. Just thinking of what else could be getting in the way.
I think there was some Dell thing that was the root cause and disabling it fixed the issue. In the Capture One Technical Forum group on FB there was a thread some time ago about some anti-virus software getting in the way. I don't know what you mean by "hack" OEM systems. Looked in the generic Capture One plugin's log file and I see references to the programs I'm trying to open these images with, but there are not errors reported.įor reference, Open With works just fine on my other Windows 11 computer desktop running the same 16.3.2 version of Capture One Pro, just not on my new Windows 11 laptop.Īny other ideas? Or is it time for a support request?Īn idea could be to check Windows versions and whether laptop comes from a provider known to "hack" OEM systems (for example, multiple reports of something not working on this laptop even though it should be supported).Looked in application.log and didn't see any references at all to the Edit With or Open With commands or the third party program I was asking it to use to open the file.Tried both "Edit With" and "Open With" with Microsoft Paint when using a JPG file.Created a new catalog and new image file directory that has no spaces in the path anywhere for catalog or images. In both cases, Affinity Photo can open the file in question just fine when it's opened directly in Affinity Photo using File/Open. Tried with two different installs of Affinity Photo (MSI and MSIX).Uninstalled Capture One, deleted the profile directory and then reinstalled from scratch. So far I've done the following to try to troubleshoot:
The related command "Edit With" has the same problem. Yet, if I manually open Microsoft Paint and open the exact same JPG with File/Open in Microsoft Paint, it works just fine. If I import a JPG into my catalog and just try Open With => Microsoft Paint, I see something flash in the upper left corner of the screen for an instant (too fast to see what it is) and nothing opens. So, it turns out my problem here has nothing to even do with Affinity Photo because I can't open ANY image from the catalog in any other program.
